We are currently adding a lot of new advisory content to gradireland.com, ideal for careers advisors to share with students and relevant colleagues on campus. This is the first in a series of regular blogs on our new content and what you can expect to find on the site over the coming months.
At gradireland we regularly hear from students that personal career stories which they can relate to are great ways to discover and explore potential careers.
We recently worked with Angela Collins in Waterford Institute of Technology to add some very interesting profiles across both core and niche sectors of work, highlighting how students can pursue rewarding careers through successful internships and/or focusing on developing career-specific skills.
Just some of the recent stories we have added for you to share via your own networks and channels include:
Eoin Doyle, who works as a Digital Fan Engagement executive for Sheffield United Football Club in the UK;
Tony McDonnell, a Sustainability Engineer for JHA Consulting Engineers;
Mark Dungan, who works as an Automation Engineer for Codico Distributors;
Leah Culleton, an Assurance Associate with Deloitte;
Lisa McGrath, who works as an International Brand Ambassador with Jameson Irish Whiskey.
Video and Audio
The #FYI Series
We have continued to add material to our FYI series of videos this year, with approximately 200 career interviews, career path graphics and transcripts now on the site. Our most recent series of videos saw new sectors introduced for Healthcare Technology and Aviation. We now have 28 sectors active in our FYI series so please share the videos and career paths with relevant students and/or academic colleagues to help share these real-world insights into what developing a graduate career in a particular job area practically involves.
We have also been working hard to build up our audio content via our series of podcasts, which to date have covered areas such as interview tips , employability skills, personal styling and more. You can access all six episodes here and over the next few days we will have our first sector analysis podcast (on the aviation leasing industry). We would very much appreciate any feedback or content suggestions as we grow the gradireland podcast into another important media channel for content, and please promote this channel out to your students as they may not have come across our podcasts yet.
Updated information on funding for postgraduate study
Further to recent meetings between the AHECS Product Development Group task force and gradireland, it was noted that good content relating to funding is always relevant to careers advisors when dealing with students considering postgraduate study. We have curated and updated our main postgraduate funding article here, along with others in our advice and funding section, please share on your own networks and let us know if you have any suggestions or feedback.
These are just some of the recent additions we have made to the site, with lots more to come in our Engineering, Finance, Law and Tech sectors in particular. We’ll keep you posted on a regular basis and thanks in advance for using, sharing and contributing to our content. We always love to hear from careers services so please do keep in touch.
